Two pieces of natural jadeite can share similar measurements and certificates, yet differ markedly in quality.
A jadeite certificate answers an essential first question: what is the material? Depending on the laboratory and the report, it may also disclose certain treatments and, in some cases, provide information about geographic origin. Its scope should be read from the specific report.
What it cannot do on its own is settle the next question: how good is this particular piece? In this chapter, Feiyuehui Studios looks beyond identification to the interplay of color, translucency, thickness and internal structure.

Key Observations
- Start with identity. A certificate can help establish whether a piece is jadeite and what the report says about treatment. Check the laboratory, the wording and the scope of the individual report.
- Read color in context. Hue, saturation, tone and distribution matter more than the label “green” alone.
- Look beneath the surface. Translucency describes how light enters the material and creates visual depth, beyond a polished surface’s reflection.
- Consider thickness with size. A broad face-up measurement may be achieved by cutting thinner; dimensions alone do not describe material presence.
- Judge the whole stone. Internal structure, color, light, proportion and integrity interact. Exceptional jadeite brings several demanding qualities together.
翡翠证书能说明什么？
翡翠证书是确认材料身份的重要依据，但不同实验室与报告的检测范围并不完全相同。具体证书可能说明材质、部分处理情况，有时提供产地信息；阅读时应以该份报告实际列明的结论为准。
证书不能独自回答“这件翡翠的品质如何”。即使两件天然翡翠尺寸相近，仍需结合颜色的纯正度与分布、光进入材料后的通透感、厚度与比例、内部结构及整体完整性观察。收藏级品质，来自多项难得条件在同一件作品中的协调共存。
